THE BURLINGTON MAGAZINE

Zara Hall was accepted to shadow the marketing department at The Burlington Magazine, where she gained valuable insight into the strategic importance of consistent, timely, and audience-focused social campaigns. Drawing on the knowledge developed during her Media Studies degree, she applied her understanding of visual communication and brand cohesion to the tasks she was assigned. She demonstrated a strong awareness of maintaining a unified brand identity, ensuring consistency in typography, colour palettes, and overall visual style across digital platforms to strengthen recognition and engagement online.

Zara continues to maintain a professional relationship with the publication and occasionally provides freelance graphic design and Photoshop support to the team.

Below you will find an assortment of graphics created for the Burlington Magazine, using a blend of Photoshop, Canva, InDesign, and After Effects.

Kallos Gallery

During a week of work experience at Kallos Gallery, Zara supported the marketing team with social media and digital content creation. Building on similar experience at The Burlington Magazine, she developed promotional graphics and assisted in maintaining a cohesive visual identity across platforms. The work shown below includes a selection of social posts and a short promotional video created to highlight an upcoming exhibition. Through this placement, Zara further developed her understanding of how contemporary galleries communicate visually, ensuring content remained engaging, consistent, and aligned with the gallery’s curatorial voice.

greeting cards

This illustrated greeting card collection explores playful character design and light-hearted visual storytelling within a commercial format. Each card combines expressive illustration with considered typography and clean composition, allowing the humour and warmth of the concepts to remain the focal point. Designed as standalone pieces while maintaining a cohesive visual style, the series demonstrates Zara’s ability to translate narrative-driven illustration into print-ready, marketable products.

private work

Zara regularly works on private illustration commissions, creating bespoke pieces tailored to individual clients. From personal gifts to unique menu design, each project begins with careful listening and collaborative discussion to ensure the final artwork reflects the client’s story and intention. These commissions demonstrate her ability to adapt her style while maintaining strong composition, character, and attention to detail.
